Sensual Garden

In Sensual Garden, botanical forms are photographed at the boundary between observation and suggestion. Petals, folds, openings, filaments, and surfaces retain their identity as elements of the natural world while simultaneously evoking the forms and gestures of the human body.

The series is concerned less with literal resemblance than with the visual language shared by organic forms: symmetry and asymmetry, exposure and concealment, softness and tension, delicacy and structure.

Through close framing, shallow focus, and monochrome, familiar plants become intimate and occasionally ambiguous. Details ordinarily passed over become the subject, shifting attention from the flower as object to the physical qualities of surface, shape, and touch.

Sensual Garden considers sensuality not as something imposed upon nature, but as something already present in the way living forms unfold, protect themselves, attract, and reveal.
