The Artist’s Work
Chendo Pérez’s photography is defined by its emotional depth, formal precision, and reverence for light. His subjects, whether human or natural, emerge in luminous chiaroscuro, evoking presence rather than depiction. Each image is conceived as a visual poem, where the interplay of light and shadow gives voice to what words cannot express.
Process & Craft
Working fluently across photographic disciplines, Chendo produces silver-gelatin prints from film negatives, hybrid silver-gelatin prints from digital negatives, and archival pigment prints from digital images. Each process is chosen deliberately, according to the image’s emotional and aesthetic intent. His selenium-toned gelatin silver prints, contact-printed on fiber-based paper, exemplify his dedication to permanence, depth, and tactile beauty.
Philosophy & Inspiration
For Chendo, photography is less about freezing time than translating experience into emotion. His work seeks to resonate beyond what is seen, to spark recognition, memory, or reflection in the viewer. Inspiration flows from classical art, literature, and lived experience, shaping a visual language that is both rigorous and poetic.
Fotomission
In 2004, he founded Fotomission, a volunteer-run non-profit organization dedicated to teaching and promoting photography. Fotomission has produced artistic and documentary exhibitions, publications, and socially conscious projects, including The Waiting, a moving exhibition of 150 foster children that directly led to more than 40 adoptions, and Fotomission Kids, a photography program for pediatric cancer patients.
Commissions
Chendo collaborates on commissions for private, institutional, and corporate collections. Each project is approached with the same precision, sensitivity, and craftsmanship that define his personal work. Consultations are welcomed for collectors and institutions seeking original fine-art prints or limited editions.
